Your plan’s funds

Your plan offers you a choice of three investment tiers, making it easier to choose funds for your retirement savings. No matter what level of investing experience you have, you can create a portfolio that fits your investment objectives, time horizon, and comfort with risk. Select from the options on the left to learn more about each tier and the fund choices associated with them.

  • Target Retirement Funds: Vanguard Target Retirement Funds provide a predetermined mix of stocks and bonds. If you choose this option, you may want to make one fund your primary holding.

Whenever you invest, there’s a chance you could lose the money. Investments in Target Retirement Funds are subject to the risks of their underlying funds. The year in the fund name refers to the approximate year (the target date) when an investor in the fund would retire and leave the workforce. The fund will gradually shift its emphasis from more aggressive investments to more conservative ones based on its target date. An investment in a Target Retirement Fund is not guaranteed at any time, including on or after the target date.
  • Core funds: If you have investing experience and the time or expertise to periodically rebalance your portfolio, consider creating a portfolio of core funds. These are funds of various asset classes that, when used in combination, can provide diversification.
  • Supplemental funds: The funds in this tier can help you fine-tune your portfolio with more specialized investments.

Diversification does not ensure a profit or protect against a loss.
